INTURF Fibre Reinforced Turf

Fibre Reinforced Turf is grown in a sand dominant rootzone and is reinforced with polypropylene fibres. It looks, feels and drains like ordinary turf because it is ordinary turf, but with extra load bearing capacity.
Fibre Reinforced Turf (FRT) is ideal not only where hard standing is needed; it can be driven on without ruts forming, and provides an altogether better solution aesthetically and environmentally for access roads for emergency services. The new legislation about permeable surfaces in front gardens makes good practice a legal requirement. Instead of reaching for porous blocks or paving stones, why not think about FRT as - quite literally - a greener solution?
A powerful variant of FRT is formed by laying Rhizomatous Tall Fescue on top of a reinforced rootzone. This has very deep roots and is incredibly resistant to wear, shade, drought and flood - even without reinforcement.

Rhizomatous Tall Fescue (RTF)

Rhizomatous Tall Fescue (RTF) is the UK’s first turf bred for climate change. Inturf are part of a four-strong consortium of growers to have ready stocks of a new breed of turf which has been specially developed by Barenbrug Research to cope with the rigours of climate change.  Rhizomatous Tall Fescue (or Really Tough Turf as it has been described) performs well in drought, doesn’t mind being waterlogged in flooding, is shade tolerant, salt tolerant and is incredibly hard wearing. Rhizomatous Tall Fescue turf has been developed in co-operation with Barenbrug, one of Europe’s foremost breeders.
The tall fescue’s unique properties are attributable to its rhizomes and its remarkably deep root system which is bushier, denser, stronger and deeper than anything seen before. Rhizomatous Tall Fescue is a major breakthrough for people who use grass in amenity landscapes and for designers working with housing developers.

In March 2007, RTF was awarded the Waterwise Marque. The grass seed variety is the first to gain this prestigious accolade. The Waterwise Marque highlights the most water efficient products available on the market. In the current climate of drought the UK is running out of water and it is becoming increasingly important for consumers to save water and purchase water efficient products. The Marque enables consumers to make more informed decisions on which products to buy.
